The Moon strides into Sagittarius today, shifting the emotional current from cautious collaboration to dreaming big. This isn’t a vibe for spreadsheets and overthinking. It’s about vision, growth, and that bold inner voice that says: there’s more out there for you. Sagittarius energy urges you to follow your curiosity, and reconnect with your larger “why.” Meanwhile, the waxing moon builds momentum, lighting a fire under whatever you’ve been quietly wishing for. ARIES (March 21 – April 19)Your brain is buzzing with ideas, but don’t just talk: pitch. Mercury is working in your favor, and that brilliant half-baked idea you’ve been…

This day, the Fourth of July, is my favorite holiday. I love it for a few reasons. I love the summer, and the warm nights that allow me to stay outside under the stars without hunching over from chill. I love that there are at least two more months of hot weather here in the mountains, which means morning hikes and afternoon pool time. I love that the Fourth is a good reason to spend extra time with friends and family, and eat stone fruit, and make ice cream, and wear swimsuits. But I mostly love Independence Day because I…

Paris is filled with famous attractions: the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, Versailles, the catacombs, the Pantheon, the Arc de Triomphe, Sacre-Coeur. The list goes on. There are so many amazing sites here that you could spend days (heck, even weeks) just seeing the main, most well-known ones. But there’s more to Paris than the sites that attract thousands upon thousands of visitors each day. While I was living in Paris the past few months, I made it my mission to see some of the more unusual, lesser-known (but equally awesome) attractions (that didn’t come with the aggravating crowds that make…

I told my husband of an idea/memory I had. He listened intently. “What do you make of that?” I asked. He shared an intensely violent story, explaining this is what it conjured up for him. “Hmm,” I said. “Sorry, P.” “No need. I understand why you’d think that but I was thinking along a different track. I’m not sure how this happened but if I could figure it out I may really be on to something. What if I could come up with stuff like this all the time due my unusual experience? It’s my experience which means it’s my…

Putting the brakes on an enzyme might rescue neurons that are dying due to a type of Parkinson’s disease that’s caused by a single genetic mutation, according to a new Stanford Medicine-led study conducted in mice. The genetic mutation causes an enzyme called leucine-rich repeat kinase 2, or LRRK2, to be overactive. Too much LRRK2 enzyme activity changes the structure of brain cells in a way that disrupts crucial communication between neurons that make the neurotransmitter dopamine and cells in the striatum, a region deep in the brain that is part of the dopamine system and is involved in movement,…

A once-dismissed discovery in Yellowstone’s geothermal soils is now helping farmers worldwide fight drought, boost yields, and reduce dependence on chemical fertilizers. SEATTLE, U.S.A. — Russell “Rusty” Rodriguez didn’t expect to find a key to climate resilience in the superheated soils of Yellowstone National Park. But in 1999, while studying how plants survive in extreme conditions, he and his colleagues Regina Redman and Joan Henson stumbled upon something that could transform global agriculture. They thought their discovery would be celebrated. Instead, they were met with resistance from many scientists. At the time, Rodriguez was part of the faculty at University…
