    Weekly Forecast: June 30 – July 4, 2025 – A Countdown To Fireworks – ElsaElsa

Monday’s Virgo Moon moves through the middle of the Mercury-ruled sign, through the Moon’s south node. Sunny Leo Mercury moves away from opposition to Aquarius Pluto as Venus heads ever more closely into conjunction with Uranus in Taurus. A grounded, contemplative mood falls back on refining its position, and that position sparks the beginning of a revolution in values and desire. When you’ve had your outlook challenged, it’s natural to reshuffle your opinion cards, make new pairs and groupings, and maybe even discard a few. Rankings rise and fall. New values emerge, others recede. Overall, there’s a sense of general…

Why New Yorkers Flake On You (And What It Really Means)

If you live in New York City long enough, it becomes a familiar story: you make plans with a friend, you get excited, and then—hours before—they cancel. Or ghost. Or show up 45 minutes late like nothing happened. Rinse, repeat. It feels personal. It can feel rude. It may even feel like maybe you’re not as close as you thought. But the truth is, flaking in New York is practically a citywide sport. And it doesn’t always mean what you think it means. So why do New Yorkers flake so much? Here’s a closer look at the culture behind the…

June 28th Birthday Horoscope 2025-2026 MORE BIRTHDAYS If Today is Your Birthday: June 28th   The Year Ahead Forecast for June 2025 to June 2026   If You Were Born Today, June 28: While you enjoy a good debate and tend to bounce ideas off other people frequently, ultimately, you make your own choices and do your own thing. Why cats prefer sleeping on their left side—and how it might help them survive

Cats prefer to sleep on their left side. This is the conclusion drawn by an international research team that analyzed several hundred YouTube videos of sleeping cats. The researchers see this bias as an evolutionary advantage because it favors hunting and escape behavior after waking up. The team from the University of Bari Aldo Moro (Italy), Ruhr University Bochum, Medical School Hamburg and other partners in Germany, Canada, Switzerland and Turkey report on the study in the journal Current Biology, published online on June 23, 2025. All animals are particularly vulnerable while sleeping. Cats sleep around 12 to 16 hours…

Why You Can’t Appreciate One Without the Other

I used to think “home” was a dirty word. Out there — on the road — was where life happened, full of exciting adventures, fascinating people, and endless possibilities. No dreary commutes, 30-minute lunch breaks, mind-numbing meetings, or endless lists of to-dos squeezed into a rushed weekend. Why would anyone want to be home, the place where routine seemed to sap your will to exist? It baffled me. My first trip overseas — a vacation to Costa Rica — made me fall in love with travel. For all the reasons mentioned above, I realized why “vacations” were so romanticized in…

Your Daily Horoscope for Wednesday June 25, 2025

Today’s daily horoscope features a Cancer New Moon, a reset button for your heart, your habits, and maybe even your spending. With the Moon and Jupiter meeting in sensitive Cancer before dawn, there’s big emotional energy behind the desire to feel safe, full, and held. But when that same Moon bumps up against Neptune and Saturn, the lines between need and numb get blurry fast. You might want to escape. You might want to splurge. But what if you slowed down and actually asked: What am I trying to feel? ARIES (March 21 – April 19)A restless mood may creep…

Slovak science academy ‘strictly condemns’ government official’s paper on mRNA vaccines – Retraction Watch

Peter Kotlár Slovakia’s national science academy has issued a strong critique of a paper on mRNA vaccines coauthored by a member of the country’s parliament. The group called the work “insufficiently detailed” and “lacking controls,” with data that “may be misleading” and conclusions “not supported by sufficiently robust data.”  Peter Kotlár, the paper’s second author, is an orthopedist and represents the far-right Slovak National Party. He is also the commissioner for a review of resource management during the COVID-19 pandemic for the government of populist prime minister Robert Fico, himself known for questioning the science around COVID-19. The paper appeared…
